The Funny Name with a Real Purpose

The Funny Name with a Real Purpose

By far and away, the number one question we get asked:

Why YakSocket?

We're glad you asked!

Our mission is to educate the greater public around the benefits of converting to electric transportation from traditional Internal Combustion Engines (aka "ICE"). Yes, we sell lightly used electric vehicles on the secondary market as our means to fund our mission. We fundamentally believe we are in a major transition from automobiles that depend on fossil fuels to the electrification of transportation based on clean technical advances in electric based vehicles.

In this transition, we believe we're moving from the old to the new. One of the oldest forms of transport dating back to early civilization in the Tibetan Plateau, before globalization, Yaks were used for transportation of goods and people across the land. Of course, better means of transportation took over.

So, the Yak represents the old way of doing something.

The word "Socket" refers to any electrical outlet where by we charge a battery or power an electric device. Or rather, the new way in which we can provide transportation.

So there you have it: YakSocket -- from the old to the new. We also think the Yak makes for a handsome mascot!
